庄子哲雄从1986年起至2018年3月担任日本东北大学教授，曾任主管科研、国际交流与产业合作的执行副校长。获得21项国家奖项和9项国际奖项，包括NACE W. R. Whitney奖、2016年法国CEFRACOR颁发的大奖章和2019年英国腐蚀研究所UR Evans奖。他于2011年被日本首相任命为日本国家科学技术委员会委员，2018年当选日本国家科学技术委员会成员；当选日本工程院院士。他发表了560多篇期刊论文，涉及断裂物理与化学、原子尺度模拟氧化、氢加速氧化、机械合金设计和制造、应力腐蚀开裂机理、无损检测和评估以及断裂力学和失效分析等。

Tetsuo Shoji served as a Professor of Tohoku University during 1986 to 2018 and as an Executive Vice-President for Research, Industry Collaboration and International Affairs of Tohoku University during 2005 to 2008. He has received 21 national and 9 international awards including NACE W. R. Whitney Award, the Great Medal from CEFRACOR, France and UR Evans Awards from the Institute of Corrosion, UK. He was appointed by the Prime Minister as a Council Member of Science Council of Japan in 2011 for 7 years and elected as a Member of Science Council of Japan in 2018 for 6 years. He is a member of the Japan Engineering Academy. He published more than 560 journal papers covering physics and chemistry of fracture, atomic scale simulation of oxidation, hydrogen accelerated oxidation, mechanism-based alloy design, mechanics and mechanisms of SCC, non-destructive testing and evaluation and fracture mechanics and failure analysis.
