中国工程院院士、教授级高级工程师、博士导师、中国金属学会冶金人工智能技术分会主任、新一代人工智能产业技术创新战略联盟专家委员会副主任。主要研究领域为1、冶金工业计算机控制系统和数学模型的研究与开发；2、基于新一代人工智能的流程型工业智能制造创新型应用研究；3、冶金工厂技术改造和重大冶金装备国产化的创新与实践。刘玠院士主持并参加研究的重大项目，分别获得国家科技进步特等奖、一二三等奖。

He was an alternate member of the 15th and 16th CPC Central Committee, a deputy of the 9th and 10th National People's Congress, a member of the 11th CPPCC National Committee, the first deputy general manager and chief engineer of Wuhan Iron and Steel Group Co., Ltd., secretary of the Party committee and general manager of Anshan Iron and Steel Group Co., Ltd., and now he is the vice chairman of China Association for science and technology and vice chairman of China metal society. He has been engaged in the research and development of computer control system and mathematical model in metallurgical industry for a long time. He has taken the leading position in iron and steel joint enterprise and devoted himself to the innovation and practice of technical transformation of metallurgical plants and localization of major metallurgical equipment. He is a national expert with outstanding contributions.
